Assistance for Blind Children (ABC) has honored Raushan Ahmed (Posthumous), Past President of ABC.

After founding Assistance for Blind Children (ABC) on 2nd April 1978, Numerous philanthropic organizations, embassies of different countries located in Bangladesh, and dedicated people have assisted in various ways in running ABC. ABC honored some individuals and philanthropic organizations at different times through the “Irwin Award”. This is the first time ABC has taken the initiative to honor 6 dedicated members of ABC. This event was held on 19th February 2022 at ABC Head Office (67/A, Indira Road, West Rajabazar, Dhaka-1215 on the occasion of the 44th Annual General Meeting of ABC. Late Raushan Ahmed, Past President of ABC, is one of them.

Vice President of ABC Mr. Md. Rubayet Hossain conducted the award ceremony and Mrs. Safina Rahman, Executive Member of ABC, presented the brief biography of Raushan Ahmed (Posthumous).

Raushan Ahmed (1936-2021) was born on April 2, 1936. She was the wife of the renowned businessman Late Jalal Ahmed. She was involved with various social and human development organizations, including the Lions Club, FEMA, and the Women Volunteers Association (WVA). She joined ABC as a Life Member on October 25, 1986. She served as Treasurer of ABC for a total of 12 years, including 4 years from 1991 to 1994, 6 years from 2003 to 2006, and 2 years 2011 and 2012. She was elected president of ABC for the years 1997 and 1998. Under her strong and visionary leadership, ABC's activities became more dynamic. Service to humanity was the motto of her life. She raised a lot of money for ABC from her family members, relatives, friends, and well-wishers. She has worked for ABC in her life. She passed away on August 14, 2021. ABC is honoring her for her outstanding contribution. On behalf of her, Mr. Farruque Ahmed, son of Late Raushan Ahmed, and Son-in-law of Late Raushan Ahmed received a crest as a token of love.
