Assistance for Blind Children (ABC) has honored Mrs. Munira Khan, President of ABC

After founding Assistance for Blind Children (ABC) on 2nd April 1978, numerous philanthropic organizations, embassies of different countries located in Bangladesh, and dedicated people have assisted in various ways of running ABC. ABC honored some individuals and philanthropic organizations at different times through the “Irwin Award”. This is the first time ABC has taken the initiative to honor 6 dedicated members of ABC. This event was held on 19th February 2022 at ABC Head Office (67/A, Indira Road, West Rajabazar, Dhaka-1215 on the occasion of the 44th Annual General Meeting of ABC. Mrs. Munira Khan, President of ABC, is one of them.

Vice President of ABC Mr. Md. Rubayet Hossain conducted the award ceremony and Mrs. Safina Rahman, Executive of Members of ABC, presented the brief biography of Mrs. Munira Khan. Mrs. Munira Khan was born on 15th January 1939. She joined ABC as a Member on June 30, 1978, shortly after its inception in April. She started serving ABC as one of the Executive Committee Members. She served as treasurer of ABC for a total of 15 years. She was elected as President of ABC for 1995 & 1996. She is the current President of ABC for 2021 & 2022. She also represented ABC at many international conferences outside Bangladesh. She is the President of FEMA (Fair Election Movement Association formed in 1995) and has observed elections in many countries. She is Past President of the Women’s Voluntary Association (WVA) and BFUW. She was the past District Chairman of the Inner Wheel Dist. 345. She was the first Woman Member of the National Human Rights Commission. She is also associated with Dhaka University Alumni Association, Salimullah Muslim Hall Alumni Association, Rotary International, and many more philanthropic organizations. Her contribution and leadership to ABC are undeniable. ABC is honoring her for her unique contribution. Then members present at ABC's AGM handed over a crest to her as their token of Love. Mrs. Munira Khan thanked all the members present for honoring her.
